I don’t believe “a single, coherent view of the same piece of data” exists “throughout the organization”. However, I think this is okay as long as you can track the shifts in view using some kind of controlled vocabulary or ontology.
I do agree that *good* data and process architecture requires integration with the information architecture or user experience strategy.

Yeah, when they say ‘view’ they don’t mean actual human eyes looking at information, which lets them off the hook a bit. They mean finding or creating a common standard for the definition, format, and value domain of a single attribute. An example is date, which can be expressed a number of ways and have a bunch of meanings (date created? date last modified?).
One of my common areas of confusion has been their lack of any user experience strategy (or rather their exclusive devotion to their own ‘analyst’ user experience). Now I’m making sweeping generalizations here, but I have not gotten the impression that they usually extend their data standardization work into the highly subjective realm of classification. They most leave that to us, thankfully. However, that said, their methods are actually quite compatible with librarian-like classification design methods. You set a formal definition for an attribute, you set the standard(s) that its values will conform to, and you set a value domain (a taxonomy or pick list or formula).
